How to Set Up Your TDCJ Online Visitation Scheduler Account (Step-by-Step)

You have to create your own account - TDCJ staff can't do it for you. Once your account exists, staff can help update certain details like your name or address. But that initial registration? That's on you.

  1. Click “Create an Account” and enter your email - Use a valid email address and submit it.
  2. Open the registration email from the scheduler - It will include a 7-digit validation code and a link to continue registration.
  3. Return to the registration form using the link - The scheduler will prompt you to re-enter your email address and type in the 7-digit key from that email.
  4. Create and confirm your password - You’ll need to create a password that meets all listed requirements, then re-type it to confirm.

After setting your login, the scheduler walks you through a Background Questionnaire and your visitor profile. Answer every question - leave anything blank and you won't be able to continue. The system enforces strict password rules. If it rejects your password, check the requirements listed on the screen, adjust accordingly, and confirm again.

Tip: Once your Visitor Profile is complete, your Home Page should show an Add Inmate button.

To link the person you want to visit, click Add Inmate and search by their TDCJ number or SID number. You can't search by name - only by number. Make sure the number is exactly 8 digits. Missing the number or unsure if it's correct? Look it up first using the TDCJ Offender Search tool, then come back and enter it exactly as shown.

Note: If you don’t know the correct TDCJ or SID number, use the TDCJ Offender Search feature to find the 8-digit number before you try to add the inmate.

Once the search finds the right person, select your relationship from the dropdown and click Request Approval. Confirm the prompt, and your request goes to the inmate's unit for staff verification. Your request won't disappear while you wait - it stays visible on your home page under Relation Requests Pending Approval until staff approves it.

After staff confirms the relationship, it moves from pending to Verified Inmate Relations. You should then see a Schedule Visit button next to the inmate's name - that's how you'll book visits going forward.

Warning: Once you create an account with an email address, that account can’t be deleted - and the email address can’t be changed. Use an email you control long-term.

  • Use an email address you plan to keep (you can’t change it later).
  • Keep the 7-digit validation code handy while you finish registration.
  • Create a password that matches all on-screen requirements, then re-type it exactly to confirm.
  • Save your login details somewhere secure so you can get back in easily.

If the scheduler won't accept the inmate, double-check the number you entered. The system only searches by TDCJ number or SID number, and it must be exactly 8 digits. Think you might have the wrong number or be missing a digit? Look it up using the TDCJ Offender Search tool and try again with the exact 8-digit number.

If you see “Call Unit”: When the Schedule Visit button is blank or replaced with Call Unit, you’ll need to call the inmate’s unit of assignment to schedule the visit.
