5 Ways to Deposit Money to an Inmate's Trust Fund (What’s Allowed and What’s Rejected)

Since September 1, 2020, only certain people can deposit money: the sender must be on the inmate's approved visitor list or the Inmate Telephone List. Not on one of those lists? The deposit gets blocked - even if the amount, payment type, and address are all correct. Before sending anything, confirm the person making the deposit is an approved sender.

5 Ways to Deposit Money to an Inmate's Trust Fund (What’s Allowed and What’s Rejected)

Mailing a deposit? Send money orders and cashier's checks to: Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060.

  1. Get a deposit slip - Ask the offender for deposit slips, or request them by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060.
  2. Fill out the deposit slip completely - Use the deposit slip that matches the Inmate Trust Fund process so the deposit can be credited correctly.
  3. Prepare your payment - Use a money order or a cashier’s check.
  4. Mail the deposit and the completed deposit slip together - Send both to: Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060.

Note: Deposits are only accepted from senders on the inmate’s approved visitor list or the Inmate Telephone List. Confirm the sender is on the right list before you mail anything.

Electronic options exist too, including ACH transfers and approved online deposit vendors. The same sender rule applies here: only people on the inmate's approved visitor list or Inmate Telephone List can deposit money, regardless of the method.

Warning: Cash and personal checks are not accepted for trust fund deposits, and they will be returned to the sender.

  • Use a money order or cashier’s check
  • Get the deposit slip from the offender, or request one by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060
  • Mail the completed deposit slip and your deposit to Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060

Want to avoid rejected deposits? Start with the biggest gatekeeper: the approved-sender requirement. The person sending money must be on the inmate's approved visitor list or the Inmate Telephone List. If they're not, the deposit won't go through - no matter which method you use.

For mailed deposits, keep your receipt and a copy (or photo) of what you sent. The deposit slip links your money order or cashier's check to the correct trust fund account - don't skip it. Need deposit slips? Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060.
