Michigan's Crime Victim Compensation Fund provides financial assistance when a crime causes bodily harm or when you lose earnings or support because of what happened. Medical bills piling up? Missing work? Lost financial support from a loved one? This is the program Clinton County directs people to for help.

How to Apply for Crime Victim Compensation (Michigan) — Clinton County Guide

Documents

  • Obtain the Crime Victim Compensation application form (PDF).
  • Completely fill out the application form before you submit it.
  • Get the form from the Crime Victim Services Commission, Clinton County’s office, a police or sheriff’s department, or a victim assistance agency.
  • Itemized copies of every bill you want to claim.
  • If you’ll need more medical treatment, ask your doctor for a written estimate of future expenses.
  • Copies of insurance or Medicare benefit statements for all expenses you’re claiming.
  • Copies of recent payroll check stubs.
  • Disability statements from your doctor.
  • A copy of the signed, itemized funeral bill.
  • A therapist assessment.
  • A treatment plan.
  • An itemized bill or an estimate.

Once you've filled out the application and gathered documents supporting your claim, mail everything to: Crime Victim Services Commission, 320 S Walnut, Lansing, MI 48913.
