How to Apply for Visiting Privileges at Central New Mexico Correctional Facility

Visiting someone at Central New Mexico Correctional Facility (CNMCF) requires approval first. The process is straightforward—fill out the NMCD form, sign the required statement, and mail everything to the visiting coordinator. Just don't leave any blanks.

How to Apply for Visiting Privileges at Central New Mexico Correctional Facility

You'll need to complete the New Mexico Corrections Department Visitor Application for Visiting Privileges form (CD-100201.1). You can't show up and ask to be added at the door - every visitor must be on the inmate's approved visitation list before any visit.

Approval doesn't last forever. You'll need to renew and resubmit the CD-100201.1 visitor application every two years.

What to Include and Rejections

  • Completed Visitor Application for Visiting Privileges (CD-100201.1)
  • Original signatures (not missing)
  • Dates filled in (not missing)
  • Social Security number filled in (not missing)
  • Date of birth filled in (not missing)

Leaving blanks is the fastest way to delay your approval. Staff screen forms for original signatures, dates, Social Security numbers, date of birth, and other required fields. Miss something, and you'll have to resubmit a new application. Before mailing, go line-by-line - make sure every question is answered and every signature and date is filled in.

  1. Fill out the Visitor Application (CD-100201.1) completely - Facilities audit visiting files and screen for missing required information like original signatures, dates, SSN, and date of birth.
  2. Double-check for blanks before you seal the envelope - If anything required is missing, you’ll be told to resubmit another application.
  3. Mail your application directly to the visiting coordinator - Applications are submitted by mail to the visiting coordinator, not handed in at a visit.

There's a second form many people miss: the Visitor Statement of Understanding (CD-100201.A). All visitors must read and sign it before any visit. Make sure you're prepared to follow what it says before planning your trip to CNMCF.

Note: You must register upon entry and may be searched under NMCD procedure. If the Warden determines probable cause exists, a strip search can be required (conducted privately by same-sex staff). Refusing a search can cancel your visit or lead to suspension. Alcohol and controlled substances are prohibited on Department property - violations can result in removal and a report to law enforcement.

Once your paperwork is processed, the facility tracks what happens next. Approvals, denials, and suspensions are updated in the offender management database. If a visiting rule is violated, documentation goes into the inmate's file and gets attached to their visiting card. The facility also compiles a quarterly list of suspended visitors for the Director of Adult Prisons. Decisions and violations don't stay informal - they're recorded and can follow the inmate's visiting record.
