Ask for the shift supervisor and request that your message be passed to the detainee. Coastal Bend supports video-based visits, including VAV sessions. A visitation officer is stationed outside the confidential VAV room for safety and security. Video visitation may also be used for other confidential interviews or special purposes (such as USCIS or forensic medical evaluators), depending on availability. If you need to leave an urgent message, call the Chaplain at (361) 767-3400 ext. 248. Have the detainee's full name, alien registration number, and your contact information ready. After regular business hours or on weekends, ask for the shift supervisor so your message can be delivered. The facility provides tablets, but the detainee must initiate any tablet contact. Messaging or video features may depend on the unit's rules. For legal communication, confidential virtual attorney visits (VAV) are available. Attorneys must show bar identification, and only legal staff and interpreters may participate. Recording is prohibited, and a visitation officer will be stationed outside the confidential room.
