Cobb County Detention

Cobb County Detention offers visitation every day except Wednesday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Visits start on the hour and last 30 minutes. Before booking, you'll need to complete visitor pre-registration through GTL Visit Me or the on-site kiosk. Once registered, you can schedule visits 1–7 days in advance. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID for registration and every visit—photocopies won't work. If you're 18 or older, you'll be photographed during registration. Stay in your vehicle until five minutes before your appointment, follow the dress code, and leave food, drinks, cell phones, tobacco, and other prohibited items out of the visitation area. Late check-in is allowed up to 15 minutes after the hour, but your visit won't be extended. Professional visitors follow different rules and must present credentials along with ID.

Cobb County Detention doesn't accept incoming phone calls to inmates. Instead, incarcerated people place outgoing calls at select times as the facility allows. Phone service runs through Global Tel Link (GTL) at a listed rate of .12 cents per minute. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office also uses video conferencing for public and professional visits, which may require an account or advance scheduling.

Cobb County Detention uses two different mailing addresses—double-check before sending anything. Personal mail goes to PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. Include the inmate's name and SOID. Legal mail and books go to PO Box 100110, Marietta, GA 30061; include the inmate's full name and SOID so it routes correctly. For personal correspondence, only greeting cards and photos are allowed (no Polaroids). Other enclosures aren't permitted, and offensive or sexually explicit materials will be returned. Books, magazines, and periodicals must be ordered directly from the publisher or an online distributor. Hardbound books aren't accepted. All non-privileged mail is subject to inspection.

Cobb County Detention offers several ways to fund an inmate account: by phone through GTL at 888-988-4768, online at ConnectNetwork.com, or at the facility's GTL kiosk. Mailing funds? Use a U.S. Postal money order—cash isn't recommended. You can also bring cash in person daily from 09:00 am to 07:00 pm. Withdrawals from an inmate's account may be processed once per month with the inmate's consent. Authorized recipients pick up funds on Wednesdays between 09:00 am and 07:00 pm at the Visitor's Center. For bonds, the facility accepts cash bonds in the full amount—no checks or credit cards on-site. An online cash-bond option is available at cashbondonline.com up to $2,500 (including surcharges).
