The Two Mailing Addresses for Cobb County Inmates — and How to Send Books
Cobb County uses two different mailing addresses depending on what you're sending. Pick the wrong one—or forget the SOID number—and your mail could be delayed or sent back. Here's how to get it right.
Personal letters and non-legal mail go to the Phoenix, Maryland PO Box. Include the inmate's name and SOID number, then send to: Inmate's Name and SOID#, PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131.
Legal mail and books use a different address - the Marietta, Georgia PO Box for the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Include the inmate's full name and SOID number: Inmate's full name and SOID#, PO Box 100110, Marietta, GA 30061.
Tip: Put the inmate's name and SOID number on the first address line (like "Inmate Name and SOID#"). This is required for both addresses - Phoenix for personal mail, Marietta for legal mail and books.
Want to send reading material? Cobb County requires books, magazines, and periodicals to ship directly from the publisher or an online retailer like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You can't mail a used book from home. Place an order so it ships straight from the seller to the legal mail/books address.
Heads up: Hardbound books are not accepted.
You can include greeting cards and photos in regular correspondence - just no Polaroids. Keep your envelope simple to avoid rejection during screening.
