Why Cobb County Detention Uses Two Mailing Addresses (and Which to Use)

The jail separates mail into two streams, each with its own address. For personal mail, send it to: Cobb County Sheriff's Office, Georgia - Inmate's Name and SOID# - PO Box 247 - Phoenix, MD 21131. For legal mail and books only, use the local address: Cobb County Adult Detention Center - Inmate's full name and SOID # - PO Box 100110 - Marietta, GA 30061. Send to the wrong PO box and your letter or package may get delayed - or returned to you.

Whichever address you use, include the inmate's full name and SOID number on the envelope. Then match the destination to what you're sending: personal mail goes to the Phoenix, MD PO Box, while legal mail and books go to the Marietta, GA PO Box.

Want to send reading material? Books, magazines, and periodicals must be ordered directly from the publisher or an online distributor like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You can't mail a used book from home or drop one in the mail yourself. Hardbound books aren't accepted - stick with paperbacks or other formats the distributor can ship. Make sure the order is addressed to the facility's "Legal Mail/Books Only" PO box in Marietta.
