Before your first visit to Coffee Creek: a printable checklist
Your first visit goes smoother when you show up with the right ID, the right clothes, and only what Coffee Creek allows inside. Use the sections below to pack once—and avoid getting turned away at the door.
If you’re 15 or older, bring an accepted photo ID. Coffee Creek accepts a driver’s license, passport, state ID card, military ID, school ID, or another official government photo ID. Without it, you won’t be able to enter.
Before you schedule anything, confirm you're on the adult in custody's approved visitor list. The booking system will let you reserve a slot even if you're not approved - but when you show up, you'll be turned away.
No blue means no blue: If you wear any blue clothing or blue denim, you won’t be allowed into the facility.
Think about the metal detector when you get dressed. Metal buttons, body piercings, jewelry, underwire bras, and some shoes can trigger it. Keep accessories simple and skip footwear with lots of metal.
Visiting-room-items
- ✓ Up to five non-Polaroid photographs (or five sheets of photographs)
- ✓ Keep track of them - every photo has to leave with you at the end of the visit
- ✓ Pack infant items in a clear plastic bag
- ✓ Two diapers (per child)
- ✓ One clear plastic bottle (per child)
- ✓ One single-layer blanket (per child)
- ✓ One pacifier (per child)
- ✓ Diaper wipes (per child)
Leave electronics behind: Cell phones, pagers, and other electronic devices aren’t allowed in the visiting area.
Leave non-emergency medications at home - even prescriptions or over-the-counter stuff. Plan ahead so you're not stuck turning around or scrambling to store something you can't bring inside.
If you carry a medication prescribed for emergencies, follow the staff's instructions when you arrive. You'll likely need to leave it with them for security reasons rather than keeping it on you during the visit.
Skip the cash. The only exception: change for lockers and vending machines. Lockers may require a quarter, and you might want extra quarters for snacks in the visiting room.
Verify the change limit before you go: One part of the guidance says no more than $15 in quarters; another says $25. Call ahead to confirm the current limit so you don't bring too much.
- ✓ Bring quarters for lockers and vending (but keep the amount within the current facility limit)
- ✓ Don’t bring extra cash or negotiable instruments into the visiting area
- ✓ Leave valuables at home when you can
- ✓ If lockers are available, plan to store anything you can’t take into the visiting area
Final-quick-check
- ✓ I’m on the adult in custody’s approved visitor list (not just scheduled)
- ✓ I have an accepted photo ID if I’m 15+
- ✓ I’m not wearing any blue clothing or blue denim
- ✓ I avoided metal-heavy clothing and accessories (metal buttons, piercings, jewelry, underwire bras, some shoes)
- ✓ I left my phone and other electronics behind
- ✓ If bringing photos: no more than five non-Polaroid photos (or five sheets), and I’ll take them back with me
- ✓ If bringing an infant: only the allowed items, packed in a clear plastic bag
- ✓ I’m not bringing non-emergency medications (prescription or OTC)
- ✓ I brought quarters for lockers/vending and verified the current change limit ($15 vs $25 appears in different guidance)
