How to Put Money on an Inmate's Account (Coleman Unit): Deposit Options and the Sender Restriction
Putting money on someone's trust account at the Coleman Unit is straightforward once you pick an approved method and confirm you're allowed to send funds under TDCJ's sender rules.
Approved Methods
- ✓ Money order or cashier’s check
- ✓ Monthly checking account debit (ACH)
- ✓ Access Corrections (Secure Deposits)
- ✓ ACE (America’s Cash Express)
- ✓ eCommDirect (Texas.gov)
- ✓ JPay
- ✓ TouchPay Payment System
Before you send anything, make sure you're eligible. As of September 1, 2020, TDCJ only accepts deposits from people on the inmate's approved visitor list or Inmate Telephone List. Not on either list? Your deposit won't go through. Check with your loved one first to confirm your status before spending time or money on a transfer that won't be accepted.
Using a money order or cashier's check? You'll need an inmate deposit slip to go with it. TDCJ requires this slip for all money order and cashier's check deposits, and your loved one can provide it. Ask them to send you the deposit slip or the necessary information first, then include it with your payment so the funds get credited to the right account.
