What You Can (and Can't) Do During Contact Visits at Coleman Unit

Contact visits at Coleman Unit allow some physical contact - but within strict limits. You can share one embrace and one kiss at the start of your visit, and one of each at the end. Want to hold hands during the visit? That's allowed, but only if your hands stay on top of the table in full view of staff the entire time.

Reminder: Save hugs and kisses for the start and the end - one of each each time. If you hold hands, keep them on top of the table where staff can clearly see them.

Your visit will be monitored. All inmate visits at Coleman Unit may be electronically recorded, except for attorney–client meetings. Keep that in mind when you talk, and keep things calm and appropriate for a public visiting room.

What You Can (and Can't) Do During Contact Visits at Coleman Unit

Visitation is a privilege, not a right. If you or the person you're visiting breaks the rules - or if staff have security concerns - visits can be temporarily restricted. The facility may also pause visitation during lockdowns, escapes, disturbances, or health and safety emergencies.

  • Follow staff directions right away, even if it interrupts the visit.
  • Keep physical contact within the allowed limits: one embrace and one kiss at the start, and one embrace and one kiss at the end.
  • If you hold hands, keep them on top of the table in full view of staff.
  • Speak and act as if the visit is being monitored (because it may be), and avoid anything you wouldn’t want recorded.
  • If the unit goes on lockdown or there’s a safety or security issue, be prepared for visitation to be delayed, restricted, or stopped.
