How to Mail a JPay Money Order to Someone at Columbia Correctional — and Why You Must Be Approved First
Mailing a money order lets you skip online fees, but there's a catch at Columbia Correctional (Florida DOC): your deposit won't go through unless you're on the person's Approved Visitors List.
Before buying a money order, confirm you're on the incarcerated person's Approved Visitors List. The Money Order Deposit Form requires it. If you're not approved, your payment gets rejected - and sorting that out takes time. Want to help fast? Get approved first. It's the step that prevents the most delays.
- Get the Florida DOC Visitation Application - download the Visitation Application from the Florida Department of Corrections site.
- Fill it out completely - take your time and make sure your information is clear and accurate.
- Mail it to the right place - send the completed application to the Classification Department at your loved one’s facility.
Prepare Packet
- ✓ Make the money order payable to JPay.
- ✓ Complete every field on the deposit form and make sure it’s legible.
- ✓ Include a valid email address and a complete mailing address for the person making the payment.
- ✓ Double-check the incarcerated person’s name and DC# so the funds go to the right account and don’t get held up.
Note: Don’t include letters or notes in the envelope with your payment. They’ll be discarded.
One set of Florida DOC/JPay instructions lists this mailing address: JPay, PO Box 260130, Hollywood, FL 33026 (from a JPay coupon dated 04/23/2024).
A different JPay deposit form shows another address: JPay, PO Box 260010, Hollywood, FL 33026.
Important: Because these two PO Box addresses conflict, verify the correct mailing address with JPay or the facility before you send your money order.
After JPay receives and approves your money order, expect processing within 10 business days. On a tight timeline? Factor in mail delivery plus that processing window - it adds up.
The upside of mailing? JPay doesn't charge a fee for money orders, cashier's checks, or certified bank drafts.
Common Mistakes
- ✓ Don’t leave blanks on the deposit form - all fields must be completed and easy to read to avoid delays.
- ✓ Don’t use outdated or incorrect contact info - include a valid email address and mailing address.
- ✓ Don’t guess on identifying details - verify the incarcerated person’s name and DC# before you mail anything.
- ✓ Don’t include a personal note or letter with the payment - it will be discarded.
