How to Send Money to Facility

Before you send money, it's worth knowing who handles oversight if something seems wrong. The Florida Department of Corrections has an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) that investigates fraud, waste, and abuse within the system.

If you suspect fraud, waste, or misuse of public funds connected to the Department, call the Fraud, Waste and Misuse of Public Funds Hotline at (866) 246-4412. You can also email FraudWasteMisUse@mail.dc.state.fl.us. These are Department-level reporting channels, not a facility cashier's office. But they're the right place to raise a concern when money handling doesn't seem legitimate.

Note: This article does not include confirmed, facility-specific instructions for payment methods, drop-off options, hours, fees, or approved vendors. Check the current "send money" rules directly with the facility before you try to deposit funds.

Steps-to-follow

  • Contact the facility to confirm the current ways they accept money deposits and what information you must provide for the person you are sending funds to.
  • If something about a payment request, fee, or recipient does not seem legitimate, report the concern to the Fraud, Waste and Misuse of Public Funds Hotline at (866) 246-4412.
  • You can also report by email at FraudWasteMisUse@mail.dc.state.fl.us.

The OIG investigates and audits issues tied to fraud, waste, and abuse. If your concern goes beyond "I need help with a deposit" and looks more like misuse connected to Department operations, use the hotline or email listed above to report it.

What-to-verify

  • Which payment methods are currently accepted (and which are not)
  • The exact recipient details required so your funds are credited correctly
  • Where and how deposits are submitted, including any in-person procedures if offered
  • Any fees, limits, or restrictions that apply to deposits
  • What confirmation or documentation you should keep after you send funds

If the answers you get raise red flags about fraud, waste, or misuse of public funds, report it. Contact the Florida Department of Corrections Office of the Inspector General through the Fraud, Waste and Misuse of Public Funds Hotline at (866) 246-4412 or by email at FraudWasteMisUse@mail.dc.state.fl.us.
