What to Wear to Visitation: Columbia County Prison Dress Code Checklist
Heading to Columbia County Prison for visitation? What you wear matters. The wrong outfit can get you turned away at the door. Here's what's allowed—and what to avoid.
At Columbia County Prison, you must wear undergarments at all times. If your outfit doesn’t include them, you can be denied entry.
Your clothing also needs to be appropriate for a secure setting. Skip anything excessively tight or revealing - aim for coverage and a fit that isn't skin-tight.
If you’re wearing a skirt or dress, make sure it falls below the knee. Anything shorter can keep you from being allowed into the visiting area.
Shorts are allowed, but only if they reach mid-thigh or below. If they ride up when you sit or walk, switch to longer shorts or pants to be safe.
You can't bring outerwear into the visitation area. That includes jackets, coats, and hooded sweatshirts - leave them behind or plan to store them.
Hats aren't allowed in the visitation area, so leave yours at home or in the car.
Steer clear of anything that could be interpreted as gang-related. Clothing with gang symbols, themes, or colors is prohibited.
Need a jacket for the drive? No problem - the prison provides lockers in the visitation waiting room. Bring your layer if you need it, but plan to store it before heading back for your visit.
