Applying for a job at Columbia County Sheriff’s Office: documents, SSN, and who to call
Applying for a sworn position at the Columbia County Sheriff's Office? Your packet needs two things: a completed, notarized application and all the required supporting documents. Miss anything on the list, and your application won't be processed or considered for an interview.

The Sheriff's Office collects Social Security numbers for employment applications. SSNs may also be collected in other situations, like certain law-enforcement contacts and jail-related processes.
Note: The Sheriff’s Office states that all Social Security numbers it collects are confidential and exempt from Florida’s public records act.
Need to reach the Columbia County Sheriff's Office about your application? These numbers are listed on the sworn employment application cover page: Administration: (386) 752-9212; District Two Office: (386) 497-3797; Detention Facility: (386) 755-7000.
- Complete the application and get it notarized - the sworn application packet requires the application to be properly signed and notarized.
- Gather every required supporting document before you submit - include the documents on the checklist (including a copy of your Social Security card) so your packet isn’t marked incomplete.
- Double-check for missing items - if the packet is incomplete, it won’t be processed or considered for an interview.
Tip: If you’re not sure whether your packet is complete or received, call Administration at (386) 752-9212. Incomplete applications aren’t processed for interviews, so it’s worth confirming early.
Expect social media to come up during the background process. The Sheriff's Office may review your social media accounts, and you could be asked to list the platforms you use along with your usernames.
