Visitation

What to Wear to Visit Someone in the Florida DOC: Dress Code Rules to Avoid Being Turned Away

Florida DOC dress rules are enforced at the door. Dress conservatively, follow the specific guidelines below, and you'll reduce the chance of getting turned away before you ever reach the visiting room.

Wear a shirt. Florida DOC requires all visitors to have shirts on, and staff will check this at the door.

Shoes are mandatory, too. Pick something simple and secure so you don't get held up at check-in.

Warning: Heelys and any footwear with removable parts are not allowed. Stick with regular shoes that don't come apart.

Revealing or see-through clothing will get you turned away, regardless of gender. That means no halter tops or other braless attire, no underwear-type T-shirts, no tank tops, and no fish net shirts. Anything made with see-through fabric is off limits.

Heads up: Skin-tight clothing is not allowed for any gender. If an outfit is form-fitting enough to qualify as skin-tight, swap it for something looser before you leave home.

Pay attention to hem length on dresses, skirts, and Bermuda-length shorts. Florida DOC does not allow any of these to sit more than three inches (3") above the knee.
