Setting Up Video Visits at G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility: Complete Guide

Before scheduling a video visit at G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility, you must be on the prisoner's Approved Visitor List. No approval, no video visit - it's that simple. There's one more catch: video visits only work if Cotton has enabled online scheduling for the person you want to see. If it's not turned on yet, you'll need to wait.

1. Create your GTL Visitor account - Use the GTL Visitor website to set up your visitor profile.
2. Request to visit the prisoner at Cotton - After your account is created, submit a request to visit the incarcerated person at their assigned facility.
3. Wait for approval in GTL before scheduling - Once you’re approved on the GTL site, you’ll be able to request a scheduled video visit for someone housed at that facility.

Michigan Department of Corrections runs video visits on a tight window. You can book up to 7 days ahead, but no closer than 48 hours out. Want the next available slot? Plan ahead - miss that cutoff and you'll have to wait.

Each scheduled video visit lasts 20 minutes and costs $3.20. You pay upfront when you book, so whoever schedules the visit handles the payment too.
