How to Send Money to Someone at Cotulla Unit: Methods, Fees, and Important Restrictions

Since September 1, 2020, not everyone can put money on an incarcerated person's account. You must be on the inmate's approved visitor list or the Inmate Telephone List. Not sure if you're on one? Confirm before sending - otherwise your deposit may be rejected.

Sending a money order or cashier's check? The payee line must be written exactly like this:

1. Get a deposit slip - You can get deposit slips from the offender, or you can request them by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060.
2. Fill out the deposit slip - Complete the slip with the required information so the deposit can be matched to the correct person.
3. Mail the deposit and slip together - Send the money order/cashier’s check and the completed deposit slip to: Inmate Trust Fund, PO Box 60, Huntsville, TX 77342-0060.

Method Ach

• ✓ Attach a voided check from the personal checking account you want debited

The monthly ACH debit pulls from your checking account on or around the 5th of each month. Funds hit the inmate's account on or around the 10th. If you're timing money for a specific commissary week, factor in that five-day gap.

eCommDirect commissary purchases have quarterly spending caps. January–March: up to $70. April–June: up to $70. July–September: up to $70. October–December: up to $95 (the higher limit covers holiday spending).

Every eCommDirect commissary purchase carries a $3.75 fee.

Using eCommDirect for a deposit? The fee is $2.50 plus 2.25% of whatever you send.

Depositing a larger amount? Any single transaction of $500.00 or more triggers a 14-day hold before the inmate can access the funds.

Certain check types face holds regardless of amount. Insurance checks, company checks, payroll checks, and estate disbursements are all held for 14 days before the inmate can access the funds.
