How to Send Mail to an Inmate at Coweta County Jail: The Postcard-Only Rule and No-Packages Policy

At Coweta County Jail, personal mail must be a postcard - not a letter in an envelope. All incoming mail needs to be in metered or pre-stamped postcard form, with just two exceptions: legal mail and money orders can arrive in envelopes. Everything else? Send it as a compliant postcard, or it won't be delivered.

Warning: Coweta County Sheriff’s Office does not accept any outside items. Anything sent from the public will be returned to the sender.

  • Maximum postcard size: 4.25 inches x 6 inches

Your postcard needs to meet specific material and writing requirements. It must be white, written in blue or black ink only. The postcard also has to be metered or have a preprinted stamp - regular affixed stamps won't work.

  • Postcards marked with paint, crayons, or markers
  • Postcards with labels or stickers
  • Postcards with watermarks or stains

The Coweta County Sheriff's Office doesn't accept packages or outside items of any kind. Anything you mail in will be returned to sender.

Since March 16, 2023, the Coweta County Sheriff's Office no longer accepts publications mailed from the public. The one exception: Newnan Times Herald newspaper subscriptions are still allowed.

Paper publications are out, but digital reading is expanding. The Jail Division is adding over 2,000 books to a digital library on inmate tablets and working to increase the number of tablets available in each housing section.

Double-check the mailing address before sending anything. County pages list the JailATM.com mailing address with two different ZIP codes (30303 and 30309) - verify the current address on the jail's latest FAQ or policy page before mailing your postcard. Also note: effective 01/01/2021, all postcards sent to 560 Greison Trail will be returned to sender.
