Bringing a Child to Visit at Coyote Ridge: Forms, Escort Rules, and Photo Procedures

Each child needs their own Minor Visitor Application (DOC 20-181). Along with that, you'll attach a completed Parental/Guardian Consent for Minor Visit and/or Escort form (DOC 20-441). This isn't optional paperwork you can bring day-of - the DOC 20-441 must be submitted with the child's application before the visit is approved.

Don’t wait until visit day: DOC 20-441 has to be submitted to the Statewide Visit Unit before the date of the visit at dochqvisitunit@doc.wa.gov.

Minors (anyone under 18 who isn't legally emancipated) can't visit alone. They must be accompanied by an approved adult who's on the incarcerated person's visit list and named as the designated escort on the DOC 20-441. A government-designated escort can also bring a minor, if approved.

The escort goes through the same approval process as any other visitor. Adults complete DOC 20-060; minors need DOC 20-181. Since the DOC 20-441 has to reach the Statewide Visit Unit before your visit date, submit it early - you don't want missing paperwork to turn you away at the door.

If there's no photo on file for a visitor, staff will take one at the first visit. Photos can be updated if someone's appearance changes significantly, and minors' photos are refreshed at least every two years.

  • Complete the electronic visitor application before visiting (DOC 20-060 for adults, DOC 20-181 for minors).
  • If you’re 18 or older, bring a valid, current photo ID for check-in (driver’s license or state ID).
  • If you’re an international visitor, bring your passport.

Practical Tips

  • Submit DOC 20-441 to the Statewide Visit Unit before the visit date (dochqvisitunit@doc.wa.gov).
  • Make sure the minor will be escorted by an approved adult listed on DOC 20-441 (or an approved government-designated escort, when applicable).
  • If you’re 18 or older, show up with a valid, current photo ID (passport for international visitors).
