Why you can't call your loved one at Coyote Ridge (and how to receive calls)

Phone calls at Coyote Ridge work one way: out. You can't call in to reach your loved one - they have to call you. So the key is making sure your phone number is set up to receive their outgoing calls.

Why you can't call your loved one at Coyote Ridge (and how to receive calls)

To receive calls from Coyote Ridge, you'll need a prepaid AdvancePay account through ConnectNetwork. It's essentially a prepaid calling account linked to your phone number. Once it's funded, your loved one can reach you through the DOC's phone system. Not getting calls yet? The most common fix is creating and funding that AdvancePay account so the call actually goes through.

  • Create a prepaid AdvancePay account on ConnectNetwork
  • Add funds to the AdvancePay account so calls can be paid for
  • Confirm the phone number you want called is the one your loved one is authorized to call

Need help managing the account? For ConnectNetwork AdvancePay account issues - like closing an account - contact ConnectNetwork Customer Service at (800) 483–8314.

Regular phone calls are monitored and recorded. That's standard for prison calls - it's how facilities manage security.

Legal calls are the exception. The DOC allows unmonitored calls when an incarcerated individual dials a number recognized by the applicable state's bar association. If your loved one needs a private conversation with their attorney, that attorney's number must qualify for this legal-call process.

Privacy tip: Regular calls aren't private - they're monitored and recorded. For privileged attorney communication, the call must go through the unmonitored legal-call process using a bar-recognized number.

Got a family emergency? You can't reach your loved one by calling them directly. Emergency messages have to go through the facility's official emergency messages process.

  1. Call ConnectNetwork Customer Service - Dial (800) 483–8314.
  2. Ask to close your AdvancePay account - Tell the representative you want to close the ConnectNetwork account used for AdvancePay calls.

Tips Manage Costs Privacy

  • Keep your AdvancePay account funded so calls don’t fail when your loved one tries to reach you
  • Double-check which phone number your loved one is authorized to call if you’re not getting calls
  • Plan calls around the reality that conversations are monitored and recorded - save sensitive topics for the proper legal-call channel

Two things to remember: you can't call into Coyote Ridge, and you'll need a prepaid ConnectNetwork AdvancePay account to receive outgoing calls. Once calls start coming through, assume they're monitored and recorded. For private attorney conversations, use the legal-call process.
