Getting Approved: The Visitor Application Process for North Carolina Prisons (what families must provide)
Before you can visit someone at Craggy Correctional Center, your visitor application must be completed and approved by facility staff. Show up without that approval—or try to schedule a visit before it's in place—and you won't get in.
No visit happens at Craggy Correctional Center until your visitor application is approved. This is the gatekeeper step. Planning an in-person visit? Trying to get on someone's approved list? Start with the application. Fill it out completely before submitting - you'll save yourself a lot of frustration.
Each person incarcerated at Craggy CC can have up to 18 approved visitors total. That limit includes adults and minors, so children count toward the 18 just like grown-ups do. If your family is large, it helps to plan early so the people who need to visit most are the ones who apply and get approved.
Certain official visitors don't count toward that 18-person cap - legal representatives, law enforcement, consular officials, and some local/state Family Services and Juvenile Court officials. But they still need to register with the facility before visiting. Don't assume you can just show up, even if you fall into one of these categories. Registration comes first.

- ✓ If you’re 16 or older, attach a copy of an approved photo ID to your visitor application.
- ✓ If the visitor is a minor under 16, attach a copy of their birth certificate to the visitor application.
Once your application is complete with all required documents attached, submit it according to the facility's instructions and wait for a decision. The bottom line: even after you turn everything in, no visit can happen until Craggy CC staff approve it.
