What You Can't Bring: A Visitor's Guide to Prohibited Items at Craggy Correctional Center

Quick-checklist

  • Cell phones
  • Smartwatches
  • Cameras
  • Recording devices
  • Smart/AI glasses

Craggy Correctional Center treats these devices as contraband - cell phones especially. Don't assume you can slip one into your pocket and deal with it later. If you arrive with prohibited electronics, security will stop you at screening. The item may be confiscated.

Expect screening before you enter. If you're 16 or older, you'll go through a pat/frisk search and an electronic-device scan before stepping inside the facility.

Everyone must pass through a metal detector - and clear it. Wearing or carrying metal that triggers the alarm? Staff will hold you up while they figure out what's setting it off.

Tip: Empty your pockets and ditch unnecessary metal before you reach the front of the line. Leave cell phones and other prohibited electronics behind. If you're 16 or older, be ready for a pat/frisk and electronic-device search. Everyone must clear the metal detector.

  1. Leave prohibited items at home - The easiest way to avoid delays is not bringing restricted electronics at all.
  2. Do a pocket-and-bag check before you leave - Check jackets, diaper bags, and car keys areas where phones or smartwatches often get forgotten.
  3. Arrive early - If screening takes longer than expected, you’ll have time to fix the problem without losing the whole visit.

Note: Not sure what to do with items you can't bring inside? Call Craggy Correctional Center ahead of time to ask if on-site storage like lockers is available.
