What to Wear (and What NOT to Wear) When Visiting Cross City Correctional
Cross City enforces a strict dress code, and the easiest way to avoid a wasted trip is to dress conservatively. Here's what to wear—and what to leave at home—so you get through check-in without a problem.
If you’re 16 or older, bring a valid photo ID. You’ll need it to enter the visiting area, and showing up without it can stop your visit before it starts.
Start with the basics: you must wear a shirt. Pick something that clearly counts as a standard top - not an "underwear-type" tee or anything borderline. Staff enforce these rules strictly.
Shoes are required too. Don't assume sandals or specialty footwear will slide - plan your outfit with proper shoes from the start.
Reminder: Heelys (shoes with wheels) and any footwear with removable parts aren’t allowed.
Cross City is clear about which tops won't make it past check-in: halter tops and other braless attire, underwear-type T-shirts, tank tops, and fishnet shirts. Even if it feels like a normal warm-weather outfit, these styles can get you turned away.
Skip anything see-through or skin-tight. If you're wondering whether something's too sheer or too fitted, swap it out before you leave home.
Length rule: Dresses, skirts, and shorts can’t be more than 3 inches above the knee.
Leave camo at home. Military-style camouflage patterns aren't allowed - that includes jungle (green), urban (grey/black), and desert (tan/brown) styles.
