Before Your First Visit to Crowley: A Practical Checklist
Your first visit to Crowley goes smoother when you show up with the right ID, the right paperwork, and nothing that could be treated as contraband. Use the checklist below to avoid the most common reasons people get delayed or turned away.
Docs ID Confirmation
- ✓ Bring a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID.
- ✓ Make sure the address on your photo ID matches the address on your visiting application (a mismatch can get the application denied).
Before you leave home, pull up anything that confirms you've completed Crowley's visiting application. A saved verification email or receipt works well. If there's any issue at check-in, having that confirmation ready helps you answer questions quickly.
Expect a quick piece of paperwork at the door. You'll need to complete AR Form 300-01B, the Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization. The good news: once you fill it out, it stays on file for one year. After that, you'll need to complete a new one.
As a medium-custody facility, Crowley requires an ultraviolet (UV) hand stamp before entry. Staff will stamp the back of your right hand with an ultra-violet marker. Children under three are exempt.
Visiting hours & contact: Visitation is listed as Thursday through Monday, 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. To request visitation, call 719-267-3548 ext. 23898 or email crowleyvisitation@corecivic.com.
Dress Code
- ✓ No shorts of any style.
- ✓ No cargo pants.
- ✓ Pants must be worn as intended (no sagging).
- ✓ Pant legs, skirts, and dresses must be no shorter than the top of the knee while standing.
Prohibited Items Contraband
- ✓ Cell phones
- ✓ Tablets (including iPads)
- ✓ Smart glasses (or any device capable of transmitting/intercepting cellular or radio signals)
- ✓ Portable radios
- ✓ Pagers
- ✓ Portable computers
Take the contraband rules seriously - especially with electronics. If staff find contraband during a search, they'll seize it immediately. The shift commander then decides whether to call an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) investigator or, in some cases, local law enforcement.
- Confirm you followed Crowley’s application submission instructions - Crowley requires visitors to submit applications using the facility-specific instructions, so double-check you used the right process.
- Save your proof of submission - keep your verification email or receipt handy in case you need to reference it.
- Put your photo ID where you can grab it quickly - it must be valid/unexpired, and the address should match what’s on your visiting application.
- Plan your arrival around the posted visiting window - Crowley lists visitation Thursday through Monday, 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.; if you need to make a request or confirm details, use the visitation phone number or email listed for Crowley.
Bringing a child? Handle the paperwork before you arrive. Minors must be listed on the visiting application of the legal guardian or immediate family member accompanying them. Bring documentation if requested - a birth certificate or adoption/guardianship order works.
