Before Your First Visit to Crowley: What to Wear and What to Leave at Home

Crowley County Correctional Facility enforces a strict dress code. The safest approach: dress conservatively and skip anything too revealing or too casual. Thin spaghetti-strap tops aren't allowed. Neither are shorts of any style. Pay attention to length - pant legs, skirts, and dresses must reach at least the top of your knee when you're standing.

  • No thin (spaghetti-strap) tops
  • No shorts of any style
  • No cargo pants
  • Skirts, dresses, and pant legs must be no shorter than the top of the knee while standing

Common turn-away: If you’re wearing a skirt or dress, check the length while standing - it must be at least to the top of your knee.

Certain colors and patterns are restricted because they can resemble offender attire. Avoid outfits in a single solid prohibited color, and skip camouflage entirely. If you're not sure whether something might look like offender clothing, choose a different outfit. It's not worth risking a denied visit.

  • Solid gray
  • Solid green
  • Solid orange
  • Solid white
  • Solid yellow
  • Camouflage
  • Anything that resembles offender attire

Keep jewelry minimal. The only items you can wear in the visiting area are a wedding ring set, one religious medallion, and medical alert badges. Extra rings, bracelets, or fashion jewelry? Leave them at home so you don't get held up - or told to remove them - during screening.

Tip: If you’re wearing permitted items (like a wedding ring set or medical alert badge), keep them easy to show during inspection.

Crowley allows limited physical contact. A brief embrace and a closed-mouth kiss are permitted at the start and end of each visit. During the visit, offenders may hold hands with their visitor. It's a small thing, but it can make the time together feel more normal without crossing any lines.

Remember: Keep physical contact to what’s allowed - brief embrace/closed-mouth kiss at the start and end, and hand-holding during the visit.
