Cumberland County Jail Visiting Hours: Website Says Two Different Schedules, How to Verify Before You Go
Cumberland County Jail's own website lists two different in-person visiting schedules. Before you make the drive, take a minute to verify the hours directly with the jail so you don't lose a visit slot or get auto-cancelled at check-in.
The jail's visitation page lists in-person hours across three daily time blocks, with different hours on weekdays versus weekends and holidays. Monday through Friday: 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and 6:30 PM to 9:45 PM. Saturday, Sunday, and holidays: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Then there's the county's FAQ page, which tells a different story. It lists visiting hours as 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday.
Heads up: These are two official county pages with two conflicting in-person visiting schedules. Call the jail and verify the hours before you go.
A wrong schedule can cost you more than a wasted drive. Cumberland County Jail's visitation info says inmates are allowed up to 2 in-person visits per day and up to 14 visits per week. If you show up during the wrong time block and miss your scheduled visit, you may not be able to simply "make it up" the same day the way you planned.
Time-sensitive check-in: The visitation page states that anyone checking in more than 5 minutes past their scheduled time will be cancelled automatically by the GTL system.
- Call to confirm the schedule for the day you plan to visit - Use the numbers listed on the visitation page: Visitation at 910-672-5632 or Maj. N. Hoking at 910-672-5601.
- Read the time blocks back and ask which schedule staff are following - Specifically ask whether that day uses the weekday blocks (8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, 6:30 PM to 9:45 PM) or the weekend/holiday blocks (10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM), since the FAQ page lists different hours.
- Confirm your exact appointment time and where to check in - Ask what time you are expected to be at the facility for check-in so you can plan your drive and parking around that deadline.
- Plan to be early, not on time - The visitation page says visitors need to be at the facility 5 minutes prior to their scheduled visit.
- Ask staff to repeat the late policy so there are no surprises - The site states that anyone checking in more than 5 minutes past the scheduled time will be cancelled automatically by the GTL system.
- Build in a buffer for real life delays - Even if you have the right visiting hours, a small delay can still put you past the GTL cutoff.
If you need a backup plan, the jail also offers monitored video visitation from home. According to the visitation page, video visits are available daily from 8:30 AM to 9:45 PM. You'll need to be logged on 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. Rates are up to 10 minutes for $4.00, and up to 25 minutes for $10.00.

- ✓ Call Visitation at 910-672-5632 or Maj. N. Hoking at 910-672-5601 and ask which schedule is being followed that day (the visitation page schedule or the FAQ schedule).
- ✓ Write down who you spoke with, the date/time of the call, and the exact time block(s) you were given.
- ✓ Screenshot or save the two conflicting schedules so you can reference what you saw if there is confusion later.
- ✓ Confirm the check-in cutoff for your visit time. The visitation page states that checking in more than 5 minutes late triggers automatic cancellation by the GTL system, so ask how early you should arrive to avoid that.
Group size planning: The visitation page says each visit allows 2 adults and 1 child, or 1 adult and 2 children. If you need to reschedule, double-check your group size so you don't get turned away at the door.
