Cumberland County Jail Visiting Hours: When You Can Actually Visit
Visiting time at Cumberland County Jail is divided into specific blocks depending on the day. Here are the hours the facility publishes—plus one schedule mismatch you'll want to double-check before making the trip.
According to the jail's Visitation page, weekday in-person visits (Monday–Friday) run in three blocks: 8:30 AM–11:30 AM, 1:00 PM–4:30 PM, and 6:30 PM–9:45 PM. That evening block works well if you're juggling work or school pickup - just give yourself enough time so you're not rushing through check-in.
Weekends and holidays follow a different schedule. Saturday, Sunday, and holidays are listed as 10:00 AM–12:00 PM, 1:00 PM–4:30 PM, and 6:30 PM–8:30 PM. Traveling from out of town? Pick a block that gives you cushion for traffic and parking - a late arrival can cost you the visit.
Time-sensitive: You must be at the facility 5 minutes before your scheduled in-person visit. If you check in more than 5 minutes late, the GTL system cancels the visit automatically.
The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office FAQ page lists visiting hours more simply: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday. That's a much narrower window than the detailed blocks on the Visitation page. Treat the FAQ as a quick reference - not the final word - when planning your trip.
Schedule mismatch to watch for: The FAQ summary (9:00–11:00 and 2:00–4:00 daily) doesn’t line up with the Visitation page’s detailed blocks (Mon–Fri 8:30–11:30, 1:00–4:30, 6:30–9:45; Sat/Sun/holidays 10:00–12:00, 1:00–4:30, 6:30–8:30). Verify the day’s hours before you go.
Even if you find a time block that works, the jail caps how many in-person visits an inmate can receive: up to two per day, with a maximum of 14 per week. If you're coordinating with other family members, keep that weekly limit in mind - especially when multiple people want to visit the same week.

Can't make the in-person schedule work? The jail also offers monitored video visitation from home, available daily from 8:30 AM to 9:45 PM. Pricing is $4.00 for up to 10 minutes or $10.00 for up to 25 minutes. One thing that trips people up: you need to be logged on 15 minutes before your scheduled start time.
Last tip before you leave: Arrive at least 5 minutes early for in-person visits. If you check in more than 5 minutes late, GTL cancels the visit automatically.
