Cumberland County Jail doesn't allow revealing clothing for visitors. A good rule of thumb: dress like you're going to a government building. Conservative, everyday clothes that don't show too much skin will keep you from getting turned away at check-in.

Reminder: Do not display visual gang signs while on jail property. This applies to your behavior while you are there for a visit.

Explicitly Not Allowed

  • Cellphones (not permitted inside unless approved by the Jail Administrator)
  • Weapons, including pocket knives
  • Mace or pepper spray
  • Other electronic devices (including laptops and tablets)
  • Metal or glass items
  • Food or drink items
  • Briefcases
  • Umbrellas
  • Pagers
  • Illegal drugs or alcohol

Cellphones are not permitted inside Cumberland County Jail unless the Jail Administrator gives approval. If you think you have a legitimate reason to bring your phone, get that permission beforehand. Showing up with it at the door doesn't guarantee you'll be allowed in.

Practical Checklist

Tip: If you bring items that can't go inside, lock them in your vehicle before you enter. This goes for things like cellphones and briefcases.
