How to Set Up Your First Video Visit at Curry County Detention Center

Setting up your first video visit is easier when you know the rules and hours upfront. Curry County Detention Center uses GettingOut for personal visits, so your first step is creating an account and then booking within the allowed windows.

All personal visits at Curry County Detention Center are done by video through GettingOut (gettingout.com). There are no in-person personal visits. Instead, you'll create a GettingOut account and book a video session.

Before You Start

  • ✓ The incarcerated person’s full name and inmate ID number (use the exact spelling and number)
  • ✓ A GettingOut (gettingout.com) account (required before you can visit)
  • ✓ A way to pay if you plan to add funds for tablet use (you can fund an inmate tablet through GettingOut online or by phone at 1-866-516-0115)

Before you can visit, you'll need to create an account on GettingOut (gettingout.com). Once that's set up, treat the video visit like a face-to-face visit: wear appropriate clothing, keep the conversation orderly, and avoid anything that could be considered misconduct. The same expectations apply on the inmate side. The facility requires inmates to stay fully clothed in the detention uniform for the entire visit. Staff can end a visit at any time at the supervisor's discretion. If either person breaks the rules, the visit can be terminated and future visitation privileges may be affected.

Tip: Create your GettingOut account ahead of time. Waiting until the last minute can delay your first visit if you run into login or verification issues.

For regular video visitation (all male and female housing units), the visiting windows are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. When you log into GettingOut, you'll book within these windows based on what's available.

Special Management Unit (SMU) visits work differently. SMU visitation is held in the facility by appointment only, Monday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If your loved one is housed in SMU, scheduling is handled by appointment rather than through the standard video-visit booking flow.

Reminder: Regular visit availability is controlled through GettingOut. SMU visits are the exception and are by appointment only inside the facility.

On the day of your visit, keep things simple and respectful. Wear appropriate clothing and stay orderly throughout the session. If staff observe misconduct from either you or the inmate, the visit can be ended, and you could lose future visitation privileges. Your loved one must stay fully clothed in the detention uniform for the entire visit. The supervisor on duty can terminate the session at any time, so it helps to set expectations beforehand and keep the call calm.

No recording: Screenshots, recordings, or photos of the video visit session are strictly prohibited.

  • ✓ Sign in to your GettingOut account a few minutes early so you are not troubleshooting at start time
  • ✓ Test your device camera, microphone, and speaker, and choose a quiet, private place for the call
  • ✓ Turn off screen recording features and do not take screenshots or photos during the session

If your video visit gets terminated or you can't connect, stay calm and check GettingOut for any notice explaining what happened. Curry County can end a visit at any time at the supervisor's discretion, and misconduct during visitation can lead to termination and possible loss of future privileges. If the issue was rules-related (behavior, clothing, or prohibited actions), fixing it before you try again is usually the fastest path forward.

  1. Check GettingOut for alerts - Look for messages about disconnections, blocked sessions, or rule violations.
  2. Handle tablet-funding issues - If you need to add money for an inmate tablet account, use gettingout.com or call 1-866-516-0115.
  3. Rebook after the issue is resolved - Once the problem is fixed, schedule your next session through GettingOut within the facility’s visiting hours.
