Why Curry County Doesn't Accept Physical Mail (And How to Send Letters Digitally)
Curry County does not accept physical mail for inmates. All personal mail is delivered digitally through an inmate's tablet.
Even though the message ends up on a tablet, you still need to address it correctly so it routes to the right person. Include the facility name and state (Curry County, NM) so your correspondence can be processed for digital delivery.
Use the incarcerated person's full legal name, exactly as the facility has it on file. Nicknames, initials, or shortened versions can delay delivery or prevent a match entirely.
Always include the inmate number alongside the name. It's the fastest way for staff to confirm the correct recipient, especially when multiple people share a similar name.
Addressing Envelope Rules
- ✓ Write your full name in the top-left corner
- ✓ Write your physical return address in the top-left corner
Note: Packages sent to the facility for inmates will not be accepted.
Most delivery problems come down to simple mistakes: leaving off the inmate number or not using the person's full legal name. If either is missing or doesn't match the facility's records, your mail can't be reliably matched for tablet delivery.
Another common mistake is trying to send a package along with a letter. Curry County does not accept packages for inmates. Stick to the approved mail format and leave out any extra items, or the whole thing will be rejected.
- ✓ Your full name and physical return address are clearly written in the top-left corner
- ✓ The inmate’s full name is included
- ✓ The inmate number is included
- ✓ The facility name and state (Curry County, NM) are included
