Bringing Kids to Dallas County Jail: Weekend Visits, Supervision Rules, and What Infant Items Are Allowed

Children under 17 aren't added to the visitor's card at Dallas County Jail. They can still visit, but only on weekends - and only with an adult parent or legal guardian who's already on the visitor's card. That adult must be 18 or older and takes full responsibility for the child's behavior during the visit.

Bringing a minor? An adult must stay with them the entire time. For weekend visits, that adult needs to be the child's parent or legal guardian, listed on the visitor's card, and at least 18 years old.

Visiting with an infant? You can bring one diaper bag. Staff will search it for contraband before entry, so pack light and keep it to essentials.

Infant carriers are also allowed. Staff will visually inspect the carrier during screening - be ready to hold the baby briefly if they ask.

1. Pack just one diaper bag - Dallas County Jail allows one diaper bag for visitors bringing infants, and it will be searched before entry.
2. Make sure the blanket and bottles fit inside the bag - both items are allowed only if they fit into the diaper bag.
3. Bring the infant carrier, but expect a check - the carrier is permitted, and staff will do a visual inspection.
