Can You Bring Your Kids to Visit at Dallas County Jail? Weekend and Weekday Rules Explained

Yes, children can visit at Dallas County Jail - but timing and visit type matter. Kids under 17 aren't placed on the visitor's card. They can still visit on weekends, as long as they're with an adult parent or legal guardian who is on the card. Weekdays are a different story. For video visitation, no children under 17 are allowed to participate during the week. On-site video visits run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:00 am to 8:30 pm. There are no on-site video visits on Wednesday. So if you're planning a midweek visit with a child, it won't be allowed.

Quick limits to plan around: No more than two adults and two minor children can visit one inmate at a time. Each inmate is limited to one 20-minute visit per day, and a maximum of two visits per week (not counting attorney, law enforcement, or professional visits).

Anyone 17 or younger must be accompanied by an adult who's at least 18. For weekend visits with kids, that adult needs to be the parent or legal guardian already on the visitor's card. The jail holds that adult responsible for the child's behavior during the visit. Bringing more than one kid? Plan for the adults in your group to supervise the entire time - staff won't take over once you're inside.

Children under 17 aren't placed on the visitor's card at Dallas County Jail. Your child can still join a weekend visit, but it's the approved adult - the parent or legal guardian on the card - whose status determines whether the visit happens.
