Who Counts as 'Immediate Family' for Visitation at Danville ADC
At Danville ADC, adult visitors must be “immediate family” under the facility’s definition. That includes the inmate’s father and mother, plus brothers and sisters - and Danville ADC specifically includes half-siblings and step-siblings in that sibling category. Adult children can also qualify, but Danville ADC only lists the inmate’s children as eligible adult visitors when they’re 18 or older. The same age limit is spelled out for siblings: sisters (including half sisters and step sisters) must be 18+ to count as eligible adult visitors, and brothers (including half brothers and step brothers) must also be 18+. For partners, Danville ADC allows either the inmate’s wife or the inmate’s girlfriend to be listed as immediate family for adult visitation - but not both. And if a legal guardian is the right point of contact for the inmate’s family situation, Danville ADC allows a legal guardian to be listed in place of the inmate’s parents. Step parents can be eligible too, but only when the step parent and the parent are married (that marriage is required for both to be eligible to visit).

Danville ADC’s adult visitation rules start with a firm age cutoff: adult visitors must be 18 years old or older. That lines up with how the facility describes eligible “immediate family” adult visitors - for example, siblings and the inmate’s children are only eligible as adult visitors when they’re 18+. There’s also a group-size limit for the visit itself. An ADC inmate may have up to a maximum of four (4) adult visitors at any one time.

- Have the inmate submit the Visitation Request Form - To receive visits, the inmate must complete a Visitation Request Form that includes each requested visitor’s address and date of birth (DOB).
Reminder: If the Visitation Request Form isn’t completed with each visitor’s address and DOB, the inmate won’t be able to receive visits.
