Before you can enter the visiting area, you’ll need to register with staff. Think of this as the facility’s check-in process: you’ll be processed and cleared before you’re allowed into the visit.

You also need to be on the person's approved visiting list. Not sure if you've been added? The facility won't confirm this over the phone - you'll need to check directly with the person you're planning to visit.

Still trying to confirm where someone is housed? You can look them up through the Louisiana Automated Victim Notification System (LAVNS), which shows location information including the housing facility. Another option: call the Imprisoned Person Locator at 225-383-4580 for housing assignment and facility address details. You'll need either the person's DPS&C number or their name and date of birth.

If you’re 18 or older, bring a valid photo ID every single time you visit. Staff will check it at each visit as part of entry processing.

  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Valid state photo ID card
  • Valid active-duty military photo ID
  • Valid passport

Visitors under 18 don't need a photo ID, but they can't be on facility grounds alone. A parent or legal guardian must accompany them at all times.

Expect security screening as part of check-in. All visitors - including minors - can be searched. This may include your property, your vehicle, and your person. The facility also uses metal detectors, ion scanning equipment, and specially trained K-9 teams. Searches can happen before you enter the visiting area and even during your visit.

Need ADA accommodations? Reach out to the facility ahead of time to request them. This gives staff a chance to prepare before you arrive.
