Visiting With Children at David Wade: Who Must Accompany Minors & What Baby Items Are Allowed
Bringing kids to visit at David Wade Correctional Center? It's allowed, but the rules are specific—especially around supervision and what you can carry in for an infant.
If you're bringing a child to David Wade, expect to supervise them the entire time. Visitors under 18 must stay with their parent or legal guardian while on facility grounds - no exceptions. Kids can't be left alone at any point.
Note: All visitors - including minors - can be searched, along with their property and vehicle, and may be screened using metal detectors, ion scanners, and K-9s.
Visits with minors are off-limits for certain incarcerated individuals. If the person you're visiting has a current or prior sex-crime conviction involving a minor, they cannot visit with any minor child - including their own biological or stepchild. The only way around this is warden approval.
Section Permitted Infant Items
- ✓ Four diapers
- ✓ Two jars of vacuum-sealed baby food
- ✓ Two plastic bottles of milk or juice
- ✓ One change of clothing
- ✓ One baby blanket (maximum 48 inches by 48 inches)
- ✓ One clear plastic bag of baby wipes
Reminder: Baby items are subject to search, and you (and your child) may also be screened with tools like metal detectors, ion scanners, and K-9s.
- Pack only what’s specifically allowed - stick to the limited infant item list (and quantities) so you don’t get turned away at check-in.
- Keep infant supplies together and easy to inspect - baby items will be searched, so using a clear bag for the permitted items helps speed things up.
- Plan extra time for screening - searches and screening are part of the process for all visitors, including minors.
