First things first: confirm you're on the adult in custody's approved visitors list. The scheduling system will let you pick a time even if you aren't approved - but the institution can deny your visit when you arrive. Handle your Visiting Application (CD 50) carefully. Fill out every section completely. Incomplete applications get returned, and you're only allowed to submit one application per visitor.

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Up to $15 in quarters (no other cash or negotiable instruments)
  • Emergency medications only (small supply)
  • Approved items for your infant (if applicable)

Leave Home

  • Cell phones, pagers, and any other electronic devices
  • Cash or negotiable instruments (anything other than up to $15 in quarters)

Leave medications at home - both prescribed and over-the-counter - unless it's an emergency. If you smoke, plan ahead: smoking isn't allowed inside the institution or anywhere on State of Oregon property. Leave cigarettes, vapes, and lighters in your car.

No blue or denim: Avoid wearing ANY blue clothing, including denim. If you show up in blue and/or denim, you won’t be allowed into the facility.

Think about the metal detector when choosing your outfit. Metal buttons, body piercings, jewelry, underwire bras, and even some shoes can trigger it - slowing you down or requiring extra screening. Stick to simple clothing with minimal metal, and leave extra jewelry at home.

  • Lined outerwear (raincoats, ski jackets, and other lined garments)
  • Hats (you can’t wear them inside)
  1. Confirm you’re approved to visit - make sure you’re on the adult in custody’s approved visitors list so your visit isn’t denied when you arrive.
  2. Double-check your CD 50 details - the Visiting Application requires all information; incomplete applications are returned, and only one application per visitor is allowed.
  3. Pack only what’s allowed - if you need money for vending, bring no more than $15 in quarters.
  4. Leave electronics behind - cell phones and other electronic devices aren’t allowed in the visiting area.
  5. Dress and empty pockets for screening - avoid blue/denim, skip metal-heavy clothing and accessories, and keep it simple for the metal detector.

Tip: If you’re unsure about a detail (especially for special circumstances), check with the facility’s Assigned Inmate Coordinator or Visiting Services before you drive out.
