How to Get Approved to Visit Someone at Deer Ridge Correctional Institution
Getting approved to visit at Deer Ridge starts with one thing: you need to be on the adult in custody's (AIC's) approved visitors list. Here's how Oregon DOC's application process works and what to check before scheduling a visit.
Before you try to schedule an in-person visit at Deer Ridge Correctional Institution, make sure you're already on the AIC's approved visitors list. Oregon DOC is clear: approval comes first. If you schedule without being approved, you can still be turned away at the door. The simplest way to avoid a wasted trip? Confirm with your incarcerated loved one that your visiting status is current before you book anything.
To get approved, you'll complete Oregon DOC's visiting application - called the CD 50. Fill it out carefully and answer every question honestly. This is the form DOC uses to decide whether you can be added to someone's approved visitors list. Unsure how to answer a section? Pause and get clarification before submitting so you don't create delays.
Step2-submit
- ✓ Submit your completed CD 50 by email, fax, or mail (Oregon DOC accepts all three).
- ✓ If you mail it, send it to: Visiting Services Unit, 3723 Fairview Industrial Dr SE, STE 200, Salem, OR 97302.
- ✓ Keep proof of submission (a sent email, fax confirmation, or mailing receipt) so you can track when you sent it.
After you submit the CD 50, don't assume you're approved. Oregon DOC states that turning in the application doesn't automatically approve you - and the AIC can refuse visiting requests from prospective visitors. Confirm your approval status with your loved one before scheduling. The scheduling system may still let you pick a time even if your approval isn't in place yet.
Stuck on the CD 50? If you're not sure what a question is asking or what details to include, call Oregon DOC at 503-378-2883 for help.
