Video Visits at Denton County Jail: On-Site Public Kiosks vs. Remote Home Visits
Denton County Jail uses video visitation for everything—whether you come to the jail to use a public kiosk or connect from home. The main difference? How each visit gets scheduled and when it's available.
All visits at Denton County Jail happen by video - no in-person contact visits. Before you can visit (remotely or on-site), you'll need to register online with HomeWav. Once that's done, you can choose: come in on Saturday for a public kiosk visit, or stick with remote video visits that the inmate initiates from inside the jail.
For on-site public video visits, head to the Pod Jail Public Entrance at 127 Woodrow Lane, Denton, TX 76205. The entrance is on the Woodrow St side of the jail complex - keep that in mind when planning your arrival.
On-site visits use video kiosks at the jail. Denton County has two public kiosks available for visitors who can't connect remotely.
Public on-site video visitation is Saturdays only, 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. If that's your only option, plan ahead - you don't want to be scrambling at the last minute.
- ✓ Schedule your on-site (public) visit at least 24 hours before your Saturday visit time.
- ✓ Keep the group small: a maximum of three visitors per visit, and no more than two adults at any time per visitation kiosk.
- ✓ Don’t arrive too early - visitors should show up no earlier than 10 minutes before the scheduled time.
- ✓ If the visitation room is too crowded, be ready to wait in your vehicle until your scheduled visit time.
- ✓ Only schedule an on-site public visit if you will actually come in; repeated no-shows can lead to your visitation privileges being revoked.
Remote home video visits run every day (Sunday through Saturday) from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Juggling work, childcare, or transportation? Those daily hours often make remote visits the easier choice.
Here's the catch with remote visits: you can't schedule them yourself. The inmate initiates the call. Make sure your HomeWav account is set up and ready so you don't miss the connection when they reach out.
Note: On-site public visitation can be suspended at any time at the discretion of the Denton County Sheriff’s Office.
Housing status matters. Inmates in disciplinary housing aren't eligible for the two free weekly public on-site visits.
