DRDC's New Friday Visits: What Families Need to Know (Starting Sept 2025)

DRDC is adding a new in-person visiting day: Fridays. The change starts the week of September 1, 2025, so if you’ve been limited to weekend options, you’ll soon have another day to plan around.

Friday visits won't be available to everyone right away. The rollout starts with DU offenders only. Not sure if your loved one qualifies? Confirm eligibility when you schedule - otherwise you might make a trip that can't be accommodated.

Friday visits follow a set schedule, and timing matters. Check-in runs from 08:30 to 10:00. After that, visiting pauses for count. Once count clears, visitors can return during the 11:30–13:15 window.

After the count break, you can stay through the end of the day - 15:00 on Fridays. That gives you a full visiting window of 08:30–15:00, matching the schedule DRDC is aligning to.

DRDC doesn't allow walk-in visits. You'll need to schedule an appointment in advance - for Fridays and any other visiting day. Build that step into your planning before you take time off work or arrange childcare.

2. Schedule within the allowed window - Appointments can’t be made more than seven days in advance.
3. Contact during scheduling hours - Phone/email scheduling is handled Monday–Thursday 08:30–15:30 and Friday 08:30–14:30; emails received after those hours are processed the next business day.
