You need to be on the inmate's approved visiting list before you can schedule a video visit. That means submitting a visiting application and waiting for approval. Until you're on the list, the system won't let you book.

After you're approved, you'll schedule video visits online through Securus Technologies. Get your approval squared away first, then hop on Securus to grab an available slot - just keep DRDC's booking deadlines and kiosk blackout windows in mind.

  1. Schedule no later than midnight the day before - if you want a visit tomorrow, you need to have it booked by midnight tonight.
  2. Stay within the 7-day booking window - you can’t schedule more than seven days in advance, so plan close to the week you’re trying to visit.

Session Lengths Limits

  • Session lengths are 10 minutes or 25 minutes.
  • Inmates are limited to two video visiting sessions per day.

DRDC shuts down kiosks three times daily: 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., and 9:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Avoid these windows when picking your time slot.

Note: Video visits are allowed daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., but the kiosks still go offline during the blackout windows listed above within that daily range.

Having trouble booking? First, double-check that you're actually approved on the inmate's visiting list. Then work backwards from the timing rules: book by midnight the day before, and no more than seven days out. If you need a specific day, I'd schedule as soon as that seven-day window opens - don't wait until you're scrambling at the midnight cutoff.

Planning tip: DRDC video visits run in 10- or 25-minute sessions, and the inmate can have up to two sessions per day - so coordinate with other family members before you book so you don’t accidentally use up the day’s available sessions.
