What to Bring (and Leave Behind) for DRDC Visits: The Card-Only Vending Policy and ID Rules

As of February 26, 2025, DRDC vending machines only accept credit or debit cards. Cash won't work. If you want to buy snacks or drinks during your visit, bring a card.

You're limited to one payment card in the visiting area. The name on your card must match your ID - a mismatch can cause problems at check-in, even if you're otherwise approved.

Approved visitors 18 and older must show a valid, government-issued photo ID to get in. Staff check this first, so don't leave it in the car or bring something unofficial.

The address on your photo ID must match your visiting application. If you've moved recently, update your information before making the trip.

Bring the physical ID - no photocopies or phone screenshots. DRDC requires the actual card at check-in.

  • Digital ID
  • Foreign driver’s license
  • Proof of voter registration
  • Social security card
  • Student ID card

If you need to submit a visiting application or send visiting-related correspondence for DRDC, you can send it by mail or email. Mail it to: Attention: Visiting Department, Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center, P.O. Box 392004, Denver, CO 80239. You can also email: doc_drdc_visiting@state.co.us.

At your first visit, you'll complete AR Form 300-01B (Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization). This form stays on file for one year, then you'll need to fill out a new one.

Expect screening. You, your vehicle, and anything you bring onto the grounds can be searched based on security needs. Refuse any entrance procedure and you'll be denied entry and asked to leave.

Limited physical contact is allowed. You can share a short embrace and a brief closed-mouth kiss at the start and end of your visit. Hand-holding is permitted throughout.

Breastfeeding: Breastfeeding infants is allowed only in the designated areas identified in facility procedures.

Day of Checklist

  • Your valid government-issued photo ID (if you’re 18+)
  • One credit/debit card for vending (name on the card must match your ID)
  • Be ready to complete AR Form 300-01B (Consent to Search Authorization) when you enter

Arrive early. Check-in and screening take time, and once you start the process, you can't run back to your car. Double-check that you have your one approved payment card before heading inside - vending machines have been card-only since February 26, 2025.
