If Your DWCF Visiting Application Gets Denied: How to Request Reconsideration
A denied visiting application is frustrating, but DWCF offers a clear path to request reconsideration. Here's how to reach the Visiting Department and what to do next.
Tip: DWCF has a recorded visiting information line at 303-371-4804. If your application was denied, select Option 7 for instructions on requesting reconsideration.
Can't find what you need on the recorded line? Call the Denver Women's Correctional Facility switchboard at 303-307-2500 and ask to be transferred to the right department.
To request reconsideration, call the Visiting Department directly at (303) 307-2544. If you're leaving a voicemail, keep your message focused on the reconsideration request - this helps staff route and respond to it quickly.
You can also email your reconsideration request. The Visiting Department's address is doc_dwcf_visiting@state.co.us - the same email used for visiting applications and related questions. Email works well if you want a written record of your request. Just make sure your message clearly states you're asking for reconsideration of a denied visiting application.
Need to mail your paperwork? DWCF accepts visiting applications by mail at: PO BOX 392005, Denver, CO 80239. For reference, the facility's physical address is 3600 Havana Street, Denver, CO 80239.
After a denial, DWCF directs you to use Option 7 on the recorded line or contact the Visiting Department directly. Not sure which is faster? Calling (303) 307-2544 or emailing doc_dwcf_visiting@state.co.us puts your request with the same team that handles all visiting applications. The key point: there's no separate reconsideration office or public process. Everything goes through the Visiting Department. Get your request to the right contact, clearly label it as a reconsideration request, and follow any instructions they provide.
