Visitation

What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) for Visiting Day at Denver Women's Correctional Facility

A smooth visit at Denver Women's Correctional Facility comes down to two things: showing up with the right ID and keeping everything else simple. Use the checklist below so you don't get delayed at the door or turned away for bringing the wrong items.

If you're an approved visitor and 18 or older, bring a valid picture ID. Staff check it before admitting you, so a photo on your phone or an expired document won't cut it.

Expect some paperwork at the entrance. Every visitor must register by completing AR Form 300-01B (Offender Visitor Consent to Search Authorization). The good news: once you fill it out, it stays on file for one year. After that, you'll need to complete a new one.

Leave all portable electronic devices at home or locked in your car. Cell phones, tablets, smart glasses, and anything else capable of transmitting or intercepting signals count as contraband unless specifically authorized by the DOC executive director.

  • Books of any kind
  • Pagers
  • Cellular telephones
  • Watches
  • I-Pads or tablets
  • Cameras
  • Film of any kind
  • Video recording equipment
  • Tobacco and tobacco products
  • Tobacco substitutes
  • Vaping products or e-cigarettes (and paraphernalia)
  • Briefcases

Planning to grab something from the vending machines during your visit? Bring a credit or debit card, not cash. As of February 26, 2025, vending machines in DWCF visiting accept only credit or debit cards.

Don’t get tripped up at the door: You can bring in one payment card, and the name on the card must match the name on your ID.

Dress Code

  • Do arrive fully dressed.
  • Do choose an upper-body top that stays covered when you stand, sit, and bend.
  • Don’t wear tops that expose cleavage, your back, or your midriff at any time while standing, sitting, or bending.

Take the contraband rules seriously. Introducing contraband is grounds for permanent suspension of in-person and/or contact visitation at DWCF.

Even a seemingly minor item can end your visit on the spot. After an administrative review, visitor suspensions follow a progressive scale: 30 days for a first violation, 90 days for a second, and one year for a third.

  1. Do a full pocket and bag check before you leave home. Make sure no phone, tablet, smart device, or other prohibited item is coming with you by accident.
  2. Lock prohibited items in your vehicle before you approach the entrance. Books, watches, cameras, tobacco or vaping products, and similar items should stay out of the visiting area.
  3. Keep what you carry inside to the bare minimum. The less you bring, the easier it is to clear entry without delays.
