Understanding Visit Limits at DCI: How Many Visits You Can Schedule

DCI has two different limits that affect how often you can visit: how many visits the person in custody gets each week, and how many you can have scheduled at once. Understanding both makes planning much easier.

Understanding Visit Limits at DCI: How Many Visits You Can Schedule

The ICSolutions scheduling system only lets you book two (2) visits at a time. This doesn't mean your loved one is limited to two visits per week - it just means you can't stack a bunch of future visits on the calendar all at once. Book the next one or two visits that matter most, then schedule your next one after a visit happens and a slot opens up.

  • Create your own ICSolutions account if you’re 18 or older (each adult visitor needs their own account).
  • Get your Party ID from the person in custody (PIOC) before you try to sign up - DCI staff can’t give you that information.
  • Plan ahead: in-person visits must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.

The weekly visit allowance depends on the person's status. General Population (GP) inmates can have three (3) in-person visits per week. Reception inmates can have two (2). Available days differ too: Reception and GP visits happen Monday through Thursday, and GP also has Saturday as an option. Map out which days work for you before booking - the weekly limit and available days work together.

Reminder: All in-person visits at DCI must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Last-minute openings usually aren't an option.

Each in-person visit allows up to five approved visitors. One helpful exception: children under age five (5) don't count toward that limit - but they still need to be on the approved visitor list.

This is where families need a game plan. Even if your loved one has three (3) visits available that week (or two (2) in Reception), each visit still caps at five approved visitors. If more than five adults want to come, you'll need to rotate who attends across the week's visits rather than cramming everyone into one day.

  1. Decide who gets the next two slots - since you can only schedule two (2) visits at a time, pick the two dates that matter most and agree on who will attend each one.
  2. Book at least 48 hours ahead - build the 48-hour requirement into your routine so you’re not scrambling mid-week.
  3. Make sure each adult can actually schedule - every visitor 18+ needs their own ICSolutions account, and everyone will need the Party ID (which has to come from the person in custody).
  • Keep your group to five approved visitors per in-person visit.
  • If a child under five is coming, remember they don’t count toward the five-person maximum - but they still must be approved.
  • If more than five people want to visit, split attendance across the week’s allowed visits instead of trying to pack one visit.

Tip: Since you can only schedule two visits at a time, book the most time-sensitive ones first. Schedule your next visit after one is completed and a slot opens up.
