How Video Visits Work at DCI: Scheduling, Costs, Duration, and Late-Arrival Rules
DCI uses an on-unit video visiting system with specific scheduling windows, time limits, and ID checks. Know the rules ahead of time—especially the Party ID requirement and the 10-minute late cutoff—and you'll avoid the most common last-minute problems.
At Dodge Correctional Institution (DCI), you schedule video visits through ICSolutions. Visitors who are 18 or older need their own ICSolutions account, so don’t plan on sharing a login with someone else in the family if multiple adults will be visiting.
You'll need to book your on-unit video visit at least 48 hours in advance, but no more than seven days out. This keeps the schedule manageable without locking up slots too far ahead.
DCI's posted materials list video-visit windows from 1:00–5:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM, seven days a week. Actual availability depends on facility operations, so use the times shown in ICSolutions as your final guide when booking.
Right now, people in DOC care get one free video visit per week. That policy could change, so double-check the current options in ICSolutions when you schedule.
Want more than your free weekly visit? Additional video visits cost $2.50 for 25 minutes for people in General Population. You can purchase up to 12 extra visits per month if operations allow.
Each on-unit video visit maxes out at 25 minutes. If you have a lot to cover, prioritize the most important updates first so you're not rushing at the end.
Have your photo ID ready before the session starts. DCI may ask you to show it on camera at the beginning of the visit, and staff can request it again mid-call. Keep it within reach so you're not scrambling while the clock ticks.
Late cutoff: If either you or the person in custody is more than 10 minutes late, the video visit will automatically cancel.
Here's a detail that trips up a lot of first-time visitors: you can't schedule an on-unit video visit unless the correct Party ID is on your ICSolutions account. Your loved one has to give you that Party ID - DCI staff won't provide it. Get it from them and enter it into your account before you try to book.
