What to Know Before You Arrive at DCI: Check‑In, Photo ID, and Count‑Time Cutoffs

A smooth visit at Dodge Correctional Institution comes down to three things: showing up early enough to get processed, bringing the right photo ID, and steering clear of the time windows when lobby processing pauses for count.

Plan to arrive at DCI at least 15 minutes before your scheduled visit time so staff can process you without delay. The prep work starts well before that, though. In-person visits must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance. DCI schedules both video and in-person visits through ICSolutions, and you'll need an account to sign up. Visitors 18 and older each need their own account and a Party ID.

Photo ID Rules

  • If you are 16 or older, bring photo identification.
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Valid passport or visa
  • Valid Department of Transportation (DOT) ID
  • Valid military ID
  • Valid tribal ID (if it includes a photo)

Locker and Belongings

  • Leave wallets in your vehicle.
  • Leave purses in your vehicle.
  • Leave watches in your vehicle.
  • Leave cell phones in your vehicle.
  • Plan for empty pockets when you come in.
  • Use lobby lockers only for your ID and your car keys.

Note: You only get three attempts to pass the metal detector. Fail all three and you'll be denied entry. Dress simply and leave extra metal at home so you're not scrambling at the lobby door.

Lobby processing pauses around facility count times, but the exact cutoff isn't consistent across DCI's own documents. One source says processing stops 30 minutes before count and resumes when count clears. Another says 15 minutes. If your arrival falls anywhere near count, go with the more conservative 30-minute window so you don't lose your visit. Verify the current cutoff before you make the drive.

One DCI document also lists specific times when visitors won't be processed or allowed to wait in the lobby. It states there's no lobby processing prior to 2:30 PM Monday through Saturday, and prior to 7:45 AM on Saturday. If your scheduled arrival is close to either cutoff, plan your drive accordingly so you're not stuck waiting through a no-processing window.

Tip: If your visit timing is tight, call DCI visiting support at 920-324-8362 and leave a message. That's the best way to confirm which processing cutoffs are being enforced on your visit day.

  1. Call visiting support and leave a message - Use 920-324-8362, especially if you are going to miss the window for being processed.
  2. Check your visit in ICSolutions - Since DCI scheduling runs through ICSolutions, log in and confirm your visit details and status before you head out (or as soon as you can if plans change).
