Setting Up Phone Calls from Dorsey Run: AdvancePay vs PIN Debit Accounts

Maryland DPSCS uses ConnectNetwork to handle all phone-related deposits and accounts. If you run into trouble with setup, funding, or account questions, call ConnectNetwork at (877) 650-4249. You can add funds and manage your account online, through their mobile app, via the automated phone system, at self-service kiosks, at retail locations, or by mail.

An AdvancePay account is a prepaid collect account tied to your phone number. You deposit money, and the incarcerated person uses that balance to call you. One thing to know: the funds only cover calls to the specific number you registered. Want calls to go to a different number? You'll need a separate account for that. Your balance needs to cover at least one minute of call time before you can receive calls.

Refunds & multiple numbers: You can get a refund on your AdvancePay balance if the person calling you is released, or if you no longer need the account. Need calls to go to different phone numbers? You can set up multiple AdvancePay accounts - useful if you're supporting people at different facilities.

PIN Debit accounts work differently. The money you deposit becomes the incarcerated person's property. While they're incarcerated, that balance can only be used for phone calls - nothing else. Any unused funds are refundable when they're released.

With a PIN Debit account, the incarcerated person pays for their own calls and can dial any number the facility allows. Friends and family can deposit money directly into this account. It's a good option if you don't want calls restricted to just one registered phone number.
