Before Your First Visit to Dubuque County Jail: ID Requirements and What to Leave at Home
A little prep at home makes your first visit much easier. Dubuque County Jail requires visitors to register through the facility's registration link and schedule visits in advance. Log in to your JAIL ATM account at least 24 hours before your desired time slot. Waiting until the last minute often means the slot you want is gone - so plan ahead, especially if you're juggling rides, work schedules, or childcare.
Bring a photo ID that shows your address. Staff check this at entry, and you won't get in without it. If your ID doesn't list your current address, sort that out before visit day. Getting turned away at the door is frustrating - and completely avoidable with a quick ID check beforehand.
Leave electronics behind: Cell phones and cameras aren't allowed in the visitation area. Bring them in and your visit could be cut short.
Visitors must be 18 or older. If you were planning to bring a child or teen, you'll need to make other arrangements.
Head to 855 Central Avenue in Dubuque, Iowa for on-site visits. Double-check the address in your GPS before leaving - saves you time hunting for it once you're close.
On-site visiting runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, excluding holidays. Planning a visit during a holiday week? Build in extra flexibility so you don't drive out on a day when visits aren't happening.
