Before Your First Video Visit at Duval County Jail: Account Checklist and Browser Requirements

Your first video visit goes much smoother when you handle two things ahead of time: setting up the right vendor account(s) and making sure your browser or device is ready. Use the checklist below so you're not scrambling to troubleshoot five minutes before your visit starts.

For video visits, you’ll need to register a ConnectNetwork Video Visit account. Video visits also require that your Video Visit account is funded, so don’t wait until your scheduled time to find out you still need to add money.

Duval County Jail's GettingOut service also directs families to a ConnectNetwork AdvancePay account. AdvancePay handles phone calls from your loved one and is part of how families fund video visits. Think of it this way: Video Visit is for the actual visit; AdvancePay covers calling and funding.

Before creating an account, make sure you meet the age requirement. GettingOut's Terms of Use state their services are intended for people over 18. If you're helping a younger family member connect, an adult will need to manage the account.

Browser choice matters for at-home video visits. GettingOut strongly recommends Safari (version 4 or higher) or Firefox (version 7 or higher). Other browsers may not load properly when you try to start your visit.

  • Update your browser (Safari 4+ or Firefox 7+) before the day of the visit
  • Confirm your device has a working camera and microphone (built-in is fine)
  • Plug in headphones if you have them (optional, but often clearer)
  • Test that your camera/mic permissions are allowed in your browser settings
  • Use a steady internet connection (avoid switching between Wi‑Fi and cellular mid-visit)
  • Sign in early so you have time to fix prompts or pop-ups before your scheduled time

An Android app option may be available, but it depends on the facility. GettingOut lists three ways to video visit: in the facility lobby, from your personal computer, or (at select facilities) through the "Visit Now" Android app. Confirm whether Duval County Jail allows the mobile app before you count on using it.

Before Your First Video Visit at Duval County Jail: Account Checklist and Browser Requirements
  1. Use a supported browser - Open Safari (4+) or Firefox (7+) so the visit page loads correctly.
  2. Check your camera and microphone - Make sure they’re connected/working and that your browser is allowed to access them.
  3. Close extra tabs and restart the browser - A fresh start can prevent audio/video glitches.
  4. Stabilize your connection - Stay on one reliable internet connection for the whole visit.
  5. Sign in to your Video Visit account early - Log in a few minutes ahead of time so you’re not racing the clock.
  6. Confirm your account is funded (if required) - Video visits require your ConnectNetwork Video Visit account to be registered and funded.
